TWO motorists, including a student, died in a vehicular accident at 8:45 a.m. yesterday at the South Road Properties in Barangay Tangke, Talisay City.
They were hit by a car driven by Helen Mahinay, 39, a resident of Deca Homes Tungkil, Minglanilla.
Mahinay was traveling south from Cebu City at that time.
She said she lost control of her vehicle after its brakes malfunctioned.
The car swerved towards the opposite lane, hitting the vehicles bound for Cebu City.
Traffic investigator PO1 Ruel Detuya said Mahinay hit three vehicles on the other lane, one of which was the motorcycle driven by Balbinito Dela Cruz, 58, a resident of Camansi, Naga, Cebu.
Dela Cruz’s motorcycle, in turn, hit another motorcycle driven by John Narry Lu, a resident of Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City and a student of Cebu Institute of Technology-University.
Dela Cruz and Lu were rushed to the hospital but they were declared dead on arrival.
Detuya said Mahinay will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property. (Aubrey Rose Secuya, USJ-R Intern)
