Retired teacher hit by motorcycle dies

A RETIRED teacher died after she was hit by a motorcycle at Bangga Paglaum, Murcia road in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City on Monday, February 19.

Killed was Salvacion Alejano, 69, of Paglaum Village, a former grade school teacher at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.

Senior Inspector Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 7, said the victim was crossing the street when she met an accident around 5 a.m. on the way to church.

Sarona said the motorcycle driven by Romel Maca, 29, of Barangay Buenavista, Murcia town was reportedly speeding.

Alejano sustained head injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead.

Maca also sustained minor injuries and was brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Sarona said Maca will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

Additional charges will also be filed against Maca for committing other violations like no driver’s license, he added. (GYM)
