Davao students win in National Musabaqah

PUBLIC elementary school students of Davao Region shared second runner-up finish with Region 4-A in the National Musabaqah held at Ecotech Center in Sudlon Lahug, Cebu City, from February 5-9.

Named Champion was the National Capital Region. First runner-up was the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Davao Region got third place for Regional Booth, third place for Quran Memorization (Hifdhul Quran), 2nd place for Islamic Values Quiz bee, and third place for Quran memorization.

Musabaqah is an annual competition established just last December 2016 participated in by all regions with Arabic language and Islamic Values (Alive) classes from Grade 1 to 6.

The following winners from Davao Region are as follows:

Islamic Values Quiz Bee: Second place, Sahman D. Liberato of Magugpo Pilot Imelda Elementary School with coach, Sheehab Ahmed R. Alkhatri of Magugpo, Nasreen A. Lestojas of Magugpo and JahedaLobna P. Mapuro of Madaum Elementary School, all in Tagum City division.

Quran Reading (Qiraatul Quran): Second place, Muawiya S. Thalib of Dolor Elementary School with coach Joel S. Idao of the Davao City Division.

Quran Memorization (Hifdhul Quran): Third place, Mohammad D. Embin of Pandapan Elementary School with coach Doren Joy Tuazon of the Tagum City Division.

Winning third place for the regional booth were Jefferson Bangot (Davao City division), Carlo Jay Aquino (Davao City division), Ustadz Ronaldo Casinto and Ustadz RodelPlasa of Tagum City division.

Joining the Davao Region delegates were OIC-Assistant Regional Director Teresita G. Tambagan, Tagum Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nelson Lopez and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Christine Bagacay, Alive Regional Focal person Dr. Danilo R. Dohinog, and Alive coordinators Cherry Rossette Oliva of Digos City, Ustadz Haroun Ranain of Davao City, Jeffrey Langga of the Island Garden City of Samal, Nohara Pinute of Compostela Valley, Rosalita Tediaros of Mati City, and Dr. Ma. Fe Sibuan of Tagum City.

Department of Education-Davao Director Alberto Escobarte and Curriculum and Learning Management and Development chief Dr. Janette G. Veloso joined the delegation during the opening.
