Davao City's Davraa hosting in 2019 pushed

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said the city will once again host Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) meet in 2019.

"I asked DepEd if we can host Davraa 2019 and they responded nga pwede man daw they will discuss it but in principle it was already approved that Davao City will host in Davraa 2019 ang gusto man gud nako is to practice again for Palarong Pambansa," she said in a media interview on Thursday.

She also added that the lapses in this year's hosting will be assessed in the evaluation.

"Sa pagkakaron wala pa man mi nag-post evaluation exercise for the activity but during that time we will know unsa ang kakulangan and that we can prepare for 2019. For 2019, we will be using the modern facility in the University of the Philippines (UP) (We are still yet to have a post evaluation exercise but during that time we will know what are the things we shall improve and that we can prepare for 2019. We will be using the modern facility of the UP)," she said.

She said the only issue they had is the report of the City Health Office (CHO) on the food poisoning of the Mati contingent.

"I have already given statement that we will make available the report of the CHO to the Department of Education (Deped) of Mati and the Mati Local Government Unit so that they can conduct their own investigation so that it will not happen again," Duterte-Carpio said.

"We do not mean to attack the teachers or the people in charge of Mati contingent, what we want to do is that they initiate measures for it not to happen again," she added.

She added that the only way to address it is the investigation, so that from there they will come up with recommendations.

Meanwhile, Duterte-Caprio also congratulated the Davao contingent for being number one in the present medal standing.
