WITH a budget range of P150,000 to P250,000, one can already enjoy a well-designed and furnished one-bedroom condo unit.
This is according to Thomas Castañeda, assistant vice president for marketing at SM Home, who saw an increase in condo unit owners buying home essentials and designing their own place.
From their their in-house SM Advantage Card data, Castañeda said they are seeing a steady growth of younger buyers aged 28 to 35 years buying home items like furniture, accessories and small appliances, which indicate a promising sales outlook for the home furnishing industry.
Castañeda was in Cebu for the opening of the three-day SM Home Design Series exhibit at the SM City Cebu Northwing, which runs until March 8.
The SM Home official said the condo scene has accelerated in Cebu, with more Cebuanos buying units. This prompted SM Home to launch the SM Design series to educate new homeowners to make smarter choices when buying home decor and furnishings.
“These days, it is common to see condos diminish in size... and as developers offer less space, homeowners have to figure out how to best maximize their spaces, how they can avoid sacrificing some of their needs without feeling cooped up,” said Castañeda.
He added that as SM Home has turned to design experts to help clients convert their bare units into stylish living spaces, even social-media worthy nooks.
“At SM Home, we have our own visual display team that will advise clients what right colors, home pieces, furniture to pick to achieve their dream condo unit at an affordable cost. They can also help with the styling,” he said, adding these are free.
