Aqua Planet to attract foreign, local tourists

CLARK FREEPORT -- An official of the Department of Tourism (DOT) said that the Aqua Planet, one of the biggest water theme parks in South East Asia, is expected to attract foreign and local tourists.

During the launching of the water park yesterday, DOT Central Luzon Director Carolina Uy said they expect the influx of tourist not only from the North and Central Luzon but also from Visayas and Mindanao.

“As vacation time is coming, we are expecting the influx of tourists even from the Visayas and Mindanao since we have direct flights now via AirAsia, Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines from the Visayas,” Uy said.

Aqua Planet is the latest addition to the region’s world-class facilities, according to Uy.

“This is very timely, Why? At the time that Boracay has been, of course we all know that the President (Duterte) has recently issued a closure on the Boracay and latest one is in Bohol,” Uy said.

“With that, of course, we would like to grab the opportunity and take the advantage of promoting our world-class facilities especially this Aqua Planet water theme park,” she added.

The domestic flights from Clark to other parts of the country will entice local and foreign tourists to visit Aqua Planet.

“This is perfect alternative so now that summer time is almost here. What are you waiting for, this is the perfect destination for summer,” Uy Said.

Dr. Irineo “Bong” Alvaro, Jr. president of BB International Leisure and Resort Development Corporation, said that Aqua Planet can accommodate a maximum of 5,000 guests per day.

Aqua Planet passed the third-party certification last week and it is now at par with international standards in terms of safety, according to Alvaro.

BB International is the developer of the 10-hectare water theme park situated at the North Western part of Clark Freeport.

Alvaro said the two giant wave pools -- one for kids and another one adults -- are among main the attraction of the P2.5 billion facility.

Rafael Suarez, general manager of Aqua Planet, said that other facilities inside the water theme park include the Spiral Slides, Octopus Racers, Aqua Loop, Tornado, Lazy River and Flow Rider.
