Illegal gasoline traders arrested in Danao City

FOUR suspected illegal traders of gasoline were arrested on Saturday, February 24, in a series of operations in the villages of Taytay and Looc in Danao City, Cebu.

Superintendent Jaime Quiocho, the city police chief, identified the suspects as Retchie Capoy Baduya, 44; Lucia Lavador Henson, 45; Facundo Luzena Derecho Jr., 28; and Bernaden Turbo Miano, 32.

Seized from the suspects were a total of 73.5 liters of gasoline, seven empty gallons, 10 funnels and P1,000 cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal business.

Quiocho said the suspects have no permits from the Department of Energy to sell petroleum.

The police operations started at 3:40 p.m. and ended at 4:30 p.m.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1865, which prohibits illegal selling of petroleum products, before the city prosecutor's office. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
