No extension of 2 a.m. curfew in Baguio City

BAGUIO City Mayor Mauricio Domogan said there will be no extension of the 2 a.m. curfew for entertainment establishments in the city during Panagbenga.

"I hope the bar operators and owners should understand, the present ordinance have given them ample time to operate which to me is just enough. We are not promoting our city as a drinking city," said the mayor.

In the weekly “Ugnayang Panlunsod”, Domogan disapproved the amended resolution of the city council that extended operations of bars until 3 a.m., or an hour after the curfew.

Domogan gave three reasons for the disapproval:

"First, the visitors coming up to the city does not come here to drink but to visit the various tourist destinations. Second, police reports have detailed the cases of physical injury in the morning hours to be alcohol-related. And third, La Trinidad's curfew ordinance has been set for 12 midnight which have given residents their consuming alcohol to continue their drinking spree here in the city which adds to physical and other alcohol related violations.”
