FDA warns vs five food supplements

THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued another advisory to all consumers against the purchase of five food supplements that have not passed through them for quality evaluation.

FDA is referring to the following products: Jacquilou’s Herbal Tea Malunggay Tea, Nurture Grace Extra Virgin Coconut Oil 350ml, AcneCare Lactoferrin with Linumlife Extra and Zinc Gluconate Dietary Supplement, MS for Male Tablet and CL Pito-Pito Herbal Capsule.

The five food products have not undergone thorough evaluation and testing process of the FDA. The products have not been issued the Certificate of Product Registration, which assures good quality of the product.

"Consumption of these products may pose potential health hazards to the consuming public," the FDA said in its latest advisory.

The FDA added that these food supplements should not bear any misleading, deceptive, and false claims in their labels and/or any promotional materials that will provide erroneous impression on products’ character or identity.

The public is advised not to purchase the products, while all concerned establishments are warned not to distribute the identified products until they have already been covered by the appropriate authorization.
