STARTING today, February 26, the renewal of driver’s license with five-year validity is available at the Drivers’ License Renewal Office of Land Transportation Office (LTO) in SM City Cebu, said a government official.
Alita Pulga, assistant regional director of LTO-Central Visayas, announced during the ceremonial printing and roll-out of license cards at SM City Cebu that their offices in Central Visayas are also open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. only to cover the backlog.
Cebu City Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella renewed Monday his driver's license card at LTO SM City Cebu branch. His card, which is valid for five years, was released within six minutes.
"This is a much, much improved system of processing our driver’s license," said Labella, adding he is grateful to President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration for the fast processing and issuing of driver’s license.
Pulga said they are only waiting for the implementing rules and regulations to be able to implement the 10-year validity of the driver’s license.
She said under the Republic Act 10930, only those who did not incur any traffic violation during their license’s validity period will be able to apply for the 10-year validity. (With reports from SuperBalita Cebu)
