South Korea university eyes students from Iloilo

SCHOOL officials from Pusan National University (PNU) in South Korea are scouting for graduate students in Iloilo who wanted to get master’s degree in information and communications technology and engineering.

Dr. Dohoon Lee of PNU’s School of Electrical and Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. Kyungsim Yeon of Global ICT Policy Course and Global Human Resource Development Alliance Research Center, and Jaeyun Lee of Language Education Institute discussed their proposals before Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, Provincial Agriculturist Ildefonso Toledo and Public Employment Service Office Chief Francisco Heler Jr. during their recent visit in Iloilo City.

Labor and Employment Officer I Jayrel Encontro, of Public Service Employment Office (Peso)-Iloilo, said the school officials are hoping that the Provincial Government can help send graduate students to the university.

“If we can send students there, they can train them to have good theoretical and application IT background and by the time they graduate, those students can be future IT professors and specialists,” he said.

But it is not yet clear if PNU will offer scholarship grants. PNU is among the 10 national universities in South Korea. (PR)
