INNOVATION is the name of the game for Davao Doctors Hospital’s (DDH) Eye Center.
To secure its position as the leading Eye Center in Mindanao, it has invested in upgrading its top-of- the-line machines and equipment, thus enhancing its services and providing advanced eye care services to the people of Mindanao.
Late last year, the eye center acquired its newest machine, the P4.5 million Optimist Fusion selective laser trabeculoplaty (SLT).
“It is just a matter of DDH trying to upgrade, to become more competitive and have more comprehensive services to be offered to the clients,” Dr. Perfecto Domingo Jr., DDH Eye Center clinical head, said.
The Optimist Fusion SLT machine, the first in Mindanao, is a Glaucoma, Cataract and Retina laser in one that can do three procedures.
“This single machine can do three procedures. It is gentle, non-invasive and can cause no thermal damage. It is that gentle that we can redo the procedure over again,” Dr. Luisito Gahul, department chair of DDH Ophthalmology, said.
In the past few years, DDH Eye Center has been developing its services through acquiring new equipment and offering new services. In 2015, the center unveiled the Eye Center Minor OR for minor eye surgeries. The following year, the center also upgraded its laser 532 to Laser 577, the first of its kind in Davao City.
Aiming to render top quality surgical eye care at an affordable cost, the “Philhealth package only” on all procedures covered by PHIC was launched in February 2015 to further expand its reach to more patients.
Operating for 24 years since it opened in 1991, the Eye Center offers multiple non-invasive eye surgeries and has since dubbed as the first Laser Center in Mindanao.
It has grown from one staff to five Ophthalmic Staff Nurses to cater to the increasing needs of patients. It also has seven in house doctors with different specialty fields and nearly 30 visiting doctors.
For years, the DDH Eye Center has been and remains to be the leading eye center in Mindanao providing a complete and comprehensive Diagnostic and Laser procedures with uncompromising quality and excellent customer service.
