Comelec Davao region starts printing poll forms

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) Davao Region has started printing the official election-related forms for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in May 2018.

Comelec Davao Region election assistant Maysah Casar told Sun.Star Davao that the office is completing the printing of the Posted Computerized Voters Lists and Election Day Computerized Voters Lists (PCVL-EDCVL) before February 28.

Despite plans whether to push through or move the barangay and SK elections in Mindanao due to martial law, Casar said there is still a need to prepare for the upcoming polls.

"There will be updates anytime soon. But as of now, wala pa mang information na ma-postpone ang election so tuloy. We would have a manual barangay and SK elections," Casar said.

In case the barangay and SK elections will be suspended, it would be held again "at a reasonably close time to the date [the elections were] originally held, or not later than 30 days after the cessation of the cause of the suspension" in accordance with the law.

Casar said after the printing of the PCVL and EDCVL, the office will start conducting its voters’ education—information drive and trainings for Board of Election Tellers (BET) next month.

According to the Comelec final report, there are 923,540 registered voters in the city for the 2018 polls. Of the total number, there are 369,962 voters in first district, 287,782 in second district, and 265,796 in third district.

Comelec Davao also noted 300,037 registered SK voters, of which 115,919 are from first district, 95,797 are from second district, and 88,321 are from the third district.

The Comelec strictly prohibits flying voters during the elections.
