THE 81st Araw ng Dabaw celebration will officially start on Thursday, March 1.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will lead the formal opening of the festivity, which will begin with the Misa Pasalamat at the San Pedro Cathedral.
It will be followed by the Pasiugdang Pagsaulog (Initial Celebrations) at the Rizal Park at 6 p.m., where dances and music performances by the Sta. Ana National High School Performing Arts Guild and various Davao artists will be showcased.
The official list of Araw ng Dabaw events will also be announced during the opening program.
The highlights of this year's month-long celebration include the Datu Pasidungog (March 12), Bago Awards (March 13), Mutyang Davao pageant (March 15), Parada Davaoeño (March 16), and the Araw ng Davao Street Party (March 17).
The celebration will also include activities that were scheduled but postponed during the Pasko Fiesta celebration last year, such as the Lamdag sa Parada (March 3), Koro sa Araw ng Davao (March 11), and Davao Unplugged Battle of the Bands (March 18). (PR)
