Pampanga Capitol donates patrol vehicles to police

THE Provincial Government of Pampanga turned over recently at least four police patrol vehicles to the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon in support to the war on drugs and other criminalities in the region.

The donated patrol vehicles will be used by the PMF Second Division, Aviation Security, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and Special Weapon and Tactics unit (Swat).

Pineda lauded the exerted efforts and resources of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in improving their performance against all forms criminality despite the lack of personnel and equipment.

It was learned that the ratio of police to population is one officer for every 500 people which is far from the standard ratio of one for every 300 civilians.

Furthermore, the PNP is having a hard time in the procurement of equipment because 88 to 90 percent of the PNP budget goes to personnel services.

Pineda said the PNP needs the support of all the local government units (LGUs) in order to achieve peaceful and well-protected communities.

“Central Luzon is one of the most peaceful regions in the Philippines. Thanks to our PNP. We are grateful of your service to us. The provincial government is willing to extend support for your needs. May these new vehicles strengthen you in your campaign against drugs and criminality,” she said.

Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, police regional director, thanked the Provincial Government for the assistance it has extended not only for the PNP stations in Pampanga but for the whole of Central Luzon.

“The time that we have now is not enough to enumerate all the assistance we received from Governor Pineda. If all leaders will emulate your good deeds, I think the PNP can serve better and more efficient,” Corpus said.

Aside from the patrol vehicles, Pineda also gave financial assistance to the families of police officers who died in the line of duty. (PR)
