Man shot dead in Danao City

A 38-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead by a relative allegedly hired by his brother in Sitio Guisok, Barangay Tuburan Sur, Danao City around 7 a.m. Tuesday, February 27.

The fatality, Jimmy Roca Roble, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and body.

The murder’s alleged mastermind, his brother Edgardo, was reportedly at odds with him over their business.

Police caught alleged gunman Jory Roca Landero and Edgardo, a former overseas worker, as they were about to flee the village on board a motorcycle.

Landero told the police that Edgardo promised to pay him P1,000 after Jimmy’s execution.

Jimmy’s neighbor witnessed Landero shoot the victim, who was sawing an iron bar outside his house at the time.

Investigator PO3 Ronald Gomez said that Edgardo and Jimmy put up their respective businesses, selling sand and gravel.

Edgardo allegedly became mad at his brother, whose business was thriving while his was failing.

He then hired Landero and gave him an unlicensed .357 revolver.

Landero allegedly agreed to kill Jimmy as he was mad at the victim, who, he claimed, often bullied him. After the suspects’ arrest, .357 and .38 revolvers were recovered from them.

They were charged with murder and possession of illegal firearms before the city prosecutor’s office. (KAL)
