Holiday classics, a taste of New York

“GET a feel of New York’s lifestyle when you step into our showroom, with its featured park, glass atrium and contemporary lounge,” said Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) chairman and chief executive officer Jose Soberano III.

Of course, he was referring to CLI’s latest project—a joint venture with El Camino Developers Cebu Inc.—the 38-storey, high-rise condominium 38 Park Avenue located at Cebu’s prestigious Cebu IT Park.

The 773-square-meter showroom houses four residential model units: Studio, One Bedroom, Two Bedroom and Three Bedroom. The New York masterpiece, as it’s called, is doing super-well, with a 70 percent sales increase since last year.

El Camino Developers Cebu Inc. is composed of five heads: Jose Soberano III of CLI; Bob Gothong of Gothong Southern Properties; Ricardo King of RKD Properties; Rere King of Acrissor Development Corp. and Hector Almario of 12 SIKA Holdings Corp.

The project is developed and managed by CLI.

The Classic Youth Orchestra (CYO) enthralled Cebuanos recently during its Concert 3 Season Series at SM Seaside City Cebu’s Centerstage. The guest conductor was Prof. Horst Hans Backer with guest pianist Dr. Ingrid Sala-Santamaria; Soprano was Ma. Kim Martinez.

What made the entire performance awesome and amazing was the collaboration of the following choirs: Adventist Academy Grand Choir, Sacred Heart Parish Choir, Cebu Normal University Chorale, Spring Rain Voices, Coro del Santo Niño de Cebu, Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral Choir, Voices and San Nicolas Parish Choir—a total of 300 warm bodies!

The audience was so absorbed and enchanted by the music of the masters, you could hear a pin drop! When Prof. Backer conducted the “Hallelujah Chorus” and pianist Dr. Santamaria was done with her solo piece by Sergei Rachmaninoff, thunderous applause echoed throughout the hall.

In an emotional message, CYO founder Prof. Rey Abellana said, “I drew my inspiration from the splendid work done by Dr. Ingrid Sala-Santamaria 25 years ago, when she started the Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra Development Program.”

Prof. Rey was then a student of Dr. Santamaria. The rest is history. Bravo, Rey!
