DepEd-MisOr to hold job fair for senior high students

THE Department of Education (DepE)-Misamis Oriental, in partnership with the Provincial Government, will be holding a job fair and expo for senior high school students on March 1 and 2 in the Provincial Capitol Grounds.

With the theme "Uplifting People Through K to 12 Education," the job fair and expo, attended by senior high school students from the 23 municipalities of Misamis Oriental and the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Gingoog, aims to give the participating students the opportunity to have jobs after they finish senior high, Provincial Information Officer Nicole Managbanag said.

"Aside sa they are the first graduate na mga Senior High, so parang binigyan sila ng privilege ng DepEd na mahanapan ng trabaho. So just in case na hindi sila magka-college, they will have a job after they graduated from Senior High (for being the first Senior High students to graduate, DepEd gave them the privilege to find jobs just so they will have jobs as soon as they graduate from Senior High)," Managbanag said.

She added that they are hoping that the job fair and expo will be helpful to those students who lack the financial resources to go to college.

According to Managbanag, 35 local employers of different industries, such as food, hotel and restaurant, masonry, crafts, sewing and construction, will be in the two-day job fair to provide job opportunities to the students.

Randolph Tortola, the schoold division superintendent of DepEd-Misamis Oriental, said the event will also showcase the initial outputs and gains of the Senior High School students; generate income and profit from the products and services; build confidence among Senior High School students in the demonstration of skills and abilities; strengthen awareness of the Senior High School Program; and increase stakeholders support for the Senior High School Program.

The two-day job fair, Tortola said, will also be attended by other schools division superintendents and their assistants, Grade 12 teachers and principals or administrators from private and government schools.
