IN A BID to promote green and safety design, the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Davao Chapter organized a three-day construction show at the SM City Annex on February 23-25.

Titled #GreenAndSafeSpaces2018, the event wished to influence young architects to build designs that put highlight on life, safety, health, and efficiency.

UAP Davao Chapter vice president Gilbert Peter Fortitch, in an interview with SunStar Davao, said the show is also a statement that safety should be their top priority in every construction design.

"We, as architects, also would want the public to know that we have our own specialties when it comes to designs which means we are much capable of making an appropriate design to implement these safety precautions," Fortich said.

A total of 46 construction suppliers showcased their respective products, filling 58 booths within the venue.

Event's major sponsor Davies Paints, headed by its officer-in-charge Lito Mojares, vastly array their paint products during the exhibit, including Davies Diamante, Davies Oil Woodstain, Davies Polyfloor, different Davies Traffic Paints, Megacryl, Sun and Rain, Elastogel Ultra, Keramikote, Liquid Tile, Megacryl White, Roofshield, Pondo, Esposeal, Epoxy Primer, Acreez, Keramifloor, Powerfloor, Suprafloor, Solutions, Wood Bleach etc.

During the first day, Davao City Vice Mayor Bernie Al-ag, who was the guest of honor, urged the architects to forge a legit partnership with the City Government of Davao as they are, indeed, an asset for the progress of Davao City for the years to come.

A supplier's night, hosted by TV Show host Ruben Gonzaga, was emphasized during the second day. The program was dedicated to UAP Davao Chapter's faithful suppliers in a way of giving back the favor while recognizing their unending support.

The closing day was highlighted by a reggae jam with Nairud sa Wabad and a ramp show exhibiting the products of the suppliers.

Fortitch, meanwhile, urged the public to consider hiring architects when constructing simple house, buildings or any establishments to assure a safe design in times of catastrophe.
