Nocppo cop positive for drugs

A MALE police non-commissioned officer of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) tested positive in the drug test held at its headquarters in Bacolod City last month.

On February 8, 30 male and 10 female police officers from different police stations underwent the test, which is part of the intensified internal cleansing campaign of Police Regional Office in Western Visayas.

Two of them were tested positive when the result came out two weeks later.

In the confirmatory test conducted by the Regional Crime Laboratory, only one was tested positive.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., Nocppo director, said March 1 that the policeman who was tested positive for drug use was a Police Officer 1. However, he refused to elaborate on the details.

Castil said they are already preparing the administrative charges against the police officer, who will also be relieved and disarmed as soon as the investigation progresses.

He also said the police officer confessed to his superior that he is really using illegal drugs.

“He chose the wrong path, so he must face the consequence,” Castil said.
