CCCI elects new officers, board of trustees

AN honorary consul of the Slovak Republic was elected president of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Consul Antonio Chiu took his oath last Feb. 28 along with the newly elected board of trustees and officers.

Chiu replaced Melanie Ng, who said in a statement that Chiu “would lead the chamber to great heights.” Chiu thanked the trustees for their vote of confidence and promised to “harness the passion of the trustees to serve and be relevant to the well-being of Cebu’s business community.” Chiu is the president of Nutrivalue Technologies Inc., Cebu Grand Industries Inc., Coastal Highpoint Ventures Inc., Anilson Ventures Inc. and RLC Coastal Estates. He is senior vice president of Geltech Hayco Inc. and senior consultant of Taiheiyo Cement Philippines.

He served as CCCI vice president for finance and administrative services from March 2016 to 2018 and was a trustee from March 2014 to 2015.

He has been a member of the Consular Corps of the Philippines Cebu chapter since 1998 and a member of the Management ASsociation of the Philippines and Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines Cebu chapter.

Chiu graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 1978 with a degree in bachelor of science in chemical engineering. He completed a masters degree in business management from the University of the Philippines Cebu in 1983 and a strategic business economics program from the University of Asia & the Pacific in 2000.

Ronald S. Po was elected vice president for finance and administration services while Charles Kenneth Co was elected vice president for external affairs and relations.

Virgilio Espeleta was elected vice president for business development and management services while Edward Vincent Onglatco was named vice president for membership development. Rey Maximo Eleccion was elected treasurer while Wendell Ganhinhin was appointed his assistant. Thomas Riveral was elected board secretary while Carolyne Lamakang Go was appointed his assistant.

The chamber concluded the election of its board last Feb. 23, electing trustees from industry, trade, services, sectoral and information and communication technology. (MEA)
