NegOcc, La Castellana tourism to join travel show in Germany

THE participation of the Municipal Government of La Castellana, representing Negros Occidental, in the Internationale Tourismus Borse (ITB)-Berlin in Germany is seen to boost the town and the province’s tourism industry.

La Castellana is among the 19 organizations, and the only local government, representing the Philippines in the international tourism event on March 7 to 11.

Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan said they will exhibit various tourism spots of the town as well as of Negros Occidental.

“We will be highlighting the Bailes de Luces Festival along with our tourism destinations which we can promote to foreign delegates,” she added.

The country’s participation is made possible through the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Tourism-Frankfurt.

The Board, in a memorandum, said the ITB-Berlin is the world’s leading travel show where companies and organizations’ top decision makers, experts, buyers, and young professionals in the travel industry meet to network, negotiate and do business.

The activity gathers at least 10,000 exhibitors, tour operators, booking systems developers, airlines, hotels and other tourism business services from more than 180 countries and regions.

TPB Philippines said the country’s participation in ITB-Berlin aims to showcase cross promotion of tourism destinations, trade products and services, and the latest industry development that would position the Philippines as an attractive and competitive destination for global market.

It is also geared towards enhancing the image of the Philippines as a country on its way to economic progress and a must-visit travel destination, the agency said.

“For this year, we are strengthening our promotional efforts to achieve increase in tourist arrivals from Europe and build up the country’s brand campaign,” it added.

Provincial Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Cristine Mansinares said the international travel show is another platform to showcase and promote the tourism offerings of the province.

“It will further promote La Castellana’s tourism sites and open up its potentials for possible investors mainly through the business-to-business segment of the event,” Mansinares added.
