THE Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental will be resuming on Thursday, March 8, its village empowerment program to provide villages with projects that are needed.
According to Provincial information officer Nicole Managbanag, under the village empower program, instead of giving the villages with people to work on the projects, the Provincial Government will provide an allotted budget of more than P1.2 million for the villages’ projects.
"Instead of providing them with people, bigay niya na lang ‘yung pera nila doon sa barangay para sila na ang mag implement sa project tapos yung mga tao, mga workers, galing don sa barangay nila (the governor will just give the village the money for them to implement their projects and the workers will be from their village). So double compensation, may project ang barangay, may income din yung mga tao doon sa barangay (the barangay will have their project and at the same time the people from the said barangay will be receiving income)," Managbanag said.
Former Opol town mayor Dexter Yasay, of the Provincial Information Office, said the mock checks worth of around P1.2 million will be turned over to different villages in the second congressional district of the province next week to fund the projects of the village officials, such as the construction of covered courts and day care centers; kindergarten classrooms; training centers; concreting of roads; establishment of water systems; and among others.
The second congressional district of Misamis Oriental includes the municipalities of Tagooana nd Lugait.
“We will also turnover emergency vehicles we call Bambi-Kabs to the barangays especially those in the far-flung areas. Aside from these, the farmers in these areas would receive high breed corn seeds, medicines for the local folks, sports equipment and scholarship grants certificates for the youth and blood pressure monitors to the senior citizens,” Yasay said.
On the same week, there will also be an inauguration of the solar dryers, drainage canals, and state-of-the-art buildings.
“We also do the turnover of calamity assistance to those fire victims, so, we could maximize our time and effort during our visitations that would be led by Governor Bambi Emano,” Yasay added.
