‘Body cameras’ soon for MisOr police stations

EVERY town police station in Misamis Oriental will soon receive “body cameras” if only to sustain and ensure transparency in carrying out the war on drugs of the Duterte administration.

The Provincial Government is also buying four container vans which will serve as movable checkpoint shelters of the police and the military at the different security inspections in the province.

Governor Yevgeny Emano said the budget for the purchase of the container vans will come from the funds of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) while the body cameras will be sourced out from his intelligence fund.

Emano said the transportable checkpoint shelters will be the resting place of the police and military troops so they will feel comfort in conducting checkpoints in the province.

"Ongoing ang purchase. Nag order ta og container vans, depende sa kadak-on ug among gipasiguan og aircon, gipabutangan og dingding aron dili sila maulanan ug duna silay kapahulayan nga disente samtang gahimo sa checkpoint," Emano said.

The checkpoint shelters will be positioned at the checkpoints in El Salvador City, Lagonglong town, Magsaysay and Lugait quarantine station and the other will be in Tablon checkpoint in Cagayan de Oro City.

Emano said these checkpoint shelters could also be used as movable command centers of the PDRRMO whenever there are calamities that would hit the province.

"We will do everything to help them do their job easier labi na sa security measures nga ilang gipatuman because we are still under martial law," Emano said.

The capitol's top official also said they will donate body cameras to police stations to show the public whether policemen follow protocols during operations and that they will no longer be blamed for extra-judicial killings.

Emano said he strongly backs the police in the conduct of the project “Tokhang” even if it gained opposition from progressive and religious groups.
