MANAGEMENT of the Cebu South Bus Terminal suspends two bus drivers and five conductors until the results of their confirmatory tests will be released.
Seven employees of bus and minibus companies operating inside the Cebu South Bus Terminal were found positive of illegal drug use, an official said yesterday.
They were part of the 400 employees of bus and minibus companies who underwent drug tests as part of the new requirements by the CSBT management starting this month.
CSBT security officer Jonathan Tumulak told SunStar Cebu that the seven employees, who are two drivers and five conductors, won’t be able to work in the CSBT until results of the confirmatory test will be released.
To ensure that CSBT remains drug-free, Tumulak said they will implement random drug tests on all workers inside the terminal.
This is also one way to sustain the passengers’ trust that they will be safe inside the terminal.
Tumulak said that there are already 11 bus and 13 minibus companies operating inside the terminal that submitted the drug test results and police clearances of their employees.
Bus companies that complied are Calvo, Corominas, Vallacar, El Joesur, Sunrays, Jegans, JS Calvo, Gabrielle, Canoneo, Metrolink and Jhade.
Minibus companies that also complied are Andrew, Britt, Tikboy, MRJ, Chan, Yeoman, Sepo, Pioneer, Dos Hermanos, EDC, Allowie, Skipper and Inday Jane. (JKV)
