SANITARY inspectors from Davao City Health Office's (CHO) Environment and Sanitation Division are set to conduct another inspection at UCCP Haran evacuation center today, Friday, November 13.
CHO Environment and Sanitation Division head Robert Oconer told Sun Star Davao in a text message yesterday that their office will deploy a total of five female inspectors to once again check sanitary condition in the area.
He described Haran, which is now currently housing around 700 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Kitaotao Bukidnon, Kapalong and Talaingod town from Davao del Norte as a bubble of disease ready to burst given the sanitary situation in the area.
Meanwhile, last Monday, Davao City Administrator Melchor V. Quitain said the city government's offer for the relocation of these IDPs, as a way to improve their sanitary situation has been refused as the evacuees found that the assigned relocation area is too far for them.
Quitain added that despite the refusal, the city government will still provide support to the lumad evacuees and will not evict lumads in the area.
