PHLPost releases stamps to mark Dumaguete Cathedral coop's 50th founding anniversary

THE Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) released stamps to commemorate the 50th founding anniversary of Dumaguete Cathedral Credit Cooperative (DCCCO), which was established on February 17, 1968.

With an initial capital of only P1,181.50 contributed by 49 parents and teachers of DCC, the cooperative’s membership and its services of saving and loans were open to a larger community, resulting in the accumulation of more capital and extension of bigger loans.

From a handful of members in 1968, its membership increases to 13,363 in 2004. Today, in its 50th year, DCCCO stands as a landmark of Christ-centered service, cooperation, integrity, and trust that was started by its founders, Mother Marcela Foret, O'Carm, and Most Rev. Epifanio B. Surban, first bishop of the Diocese of Dumaguete, and former governor Mariano Perdices of Negros Oriental.

The stamp features the modern three-story DCCCO Multipurpose Cooperative Building, the 50th Anniversary logo and the historic Dumaguete Church Bell Tower as background.

PHLPost has printed 80,000 copies of the P12 denomination of the stamps, which is available until February 16, 2019. The layout of the stamps was done by in-house graphic artist Victorino Z. Serevo.

The DCCCO 50th Anniversary Commemorative stamps and official first day cover are now available at the Post Shop, Central Post Office, Door 203, Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila and area post offices nationwide. For inquiries, call 527-01-08 or 527-01-32. (PR)
