Radio producer faces charges

THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 served two warrants of arrest for illegal recruitment and estafa against an A.M. radio station producer.

NBI 7 Director Atty. Patricio Bernales Jr. said that Angelon Detrago has to pay P400,000 bail after he was caught in an operation in Cebu City last Friday.

“When you’re facing a case like (violations of) the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995 or RA 10022, you will also face a case for estafa,” Bernales said.

The case was filed last year in Branch 65 of the Regional Trial Court in Talisay City.

Detrago only has two warrants of arrest (not four as previously reported).

Detrago, in an interview, denied the allegations against him.

“I will face this in court. It’s not true that I am a recruiter because our school is a training center,” Detrago said.

He did not elaborate on the details regarding the school.

Bernales said that individuals who wish to go to work abroad should always check the agency they are dealing with.

“They can always verify it in the official website of the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency . They have to make sure that their agency is licensed, authorized and reputable,” Bernales said. (JOB)
