Mambukal braces for influx of visitors

THE Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia town, Negros Occidental is expecting an influx of visitors after the renovation of Tourist Lodge and expansion of Convention Hall were already completed.

Since last month, the resort has been fully booked for the Holy Week, said Mambukal Resort head Ellen Marie Jalandoni.

"We are prepared for the peak season. In fact, repainting and other maintenance works of rooms and other facilities have been ongoing,” Jaladoni said.

At present, Mambukal has a total of 44 LGU cottages, 20 villas, and three family cottages.

Works at the Tourist Lodge, which has 21 rooms, and the Convention Hotel, which has 48 rooms, are expected to be completed any time this summer.

She also clarified that tourists are allowed to go to the waterfalls during the normal weather condition, except during rainy days because they close it down for safety.

Entrance fee is still P50 per person.

Earlier, the Provincial Government has allocated P84.4 million for the renovation and construction of Tourist Lodge and Convention Hotel.

Jalandoni said the resort management has already asked the Provincial Engineering Office to prioritize the convention hall so that it can immediately operate and accommodate group meetings and seminars.

“After the construction, the project will surely impact positively on the revenues of the resort. It will also translate to more additional jobs for residents of Murcia and the province,” she said.

Mambukal is one of the highest income generating ventures of the Provincial Government.
