Man dies after hit by cop’s motorcycle

A MAN died after he was hit by a motorcycle driven by a policeman at Barangay Vista Alegre in Ilog, Negros Occidental Sunday afternoon.

Killed was Romeo Tabuga, 52, of the said village.

Chief Inspector Nerito Lobrido, town police chief, said Police Officer 1 Dale Grijaldo was on his way to work at 5:10 p.m. when he allegedly sideswiped Tabuga, who suddenly crossed the street.

Grijaldo, who was assigned to Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company based in Ilog town, might be speeding when the incident happened, Lobrido said.

He said Tabuga was rushed to a hospital, but did not make it alive.

Lobrido said Grijaldo is now detained at the station and will be released after the 36-hour reglementary period.

“There might be a settlement between both parties,” he added.
