Boy drowns in river

A 10-YEAR-OLD boy died after he drowned in a river at Barangay Hilamonan in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental Monday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as Raymark Morales of the said village.

After the feeding program in their school at 11:30 a.m., the victim and his five classmates went to the river for a swim, the investigation showed.

It was Morales who invited his classmates to go to the river, which is two kilometers away from their school.

The victim, who doesn't know how to swim, jumped into the water despite the warning of his classmates.

After an hour, his classmates found him floating. They brought him near the riverbank and asked for assistance.

Morales was brought to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. (GYM)
