25 Taiwanese firms looking for Philippine distributors

AT LEAST 25 Taiwanese companies from the automotive, machinery, electronic, and similar industries are expected to arrive in Davao City on March 22 for a business matching event.

Mindanao Business Council (MinBC) executive director Rolando A. Torres said the Taiwanese companies are looking for Philippine distributors of their machinery and other products.

MinBC and the Taiwan Trade Center Manila will hold the “One-on-One Business Matching” event at Marco Polo on March 22.

Torres said they have invited at least 100 local companies in Mindanao which are engaged in manufacturing and related industries to participate in the business matching event.

Among those invited are members of MinBC and Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Inc.

Torres said they also target to visit the businesses along Sta. Ana and Magsaysay Avenues to give out flyers and invitations.

“This is the first time they are doing it in Davao City. As a matter of fact, the first time outside Metro Manila. They are looking for distributors of their products in Mindanao. Also they are going to explore what they can bring with them back to Taiwan as well,” said Torres.

Examples of the products that they are offering include printed circuit boards (PCB), plastic injection turnkey project, energy conservation monitoring and controlling system, EGR sensor, LED solar street lights, LED flood light, and pollution monitoring systems.

“We see this as an opportunity for us to get products from Taiwan that are of good quality but under reasonable rates compared to traditional products that we import. That’s one of the advantages that they can offer. They can offer products at very low rates because it is under direct supplier agreement. Aside from dealership and distributorship, it is also open to direct supplier agreement especially for companies that may need these machinery,” Torres said.
