Mabalacat LGU acquires netbooks for teachers

THE Mabalacat City Government has acquired netbooks, which will be used as educational equipment by public school teachers.

City Administrator Rosano Paquia said the 1,193 brand new Lenovo laptop computers will be distributed and issued to the teachers during a simple ceremony at the City Hall Friday, March 9.

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo will lead the ceremonial distribution of the netbooks worth P18 million.

Paquia said the mayor vowed to provide the gadgets to the teachers last December under the program of the Local School Board.

The City Government's laptop program for public school teachers earned praises from netizens all over the country.

Thousands of Facebook subscribers lauded the City Government and the mayor for the Local School Board project.

The Facebook post of the Mabalacat City News showing the arrival and actual delivery of the gadgets reached almost 8,000 likes as of Thursday afternoon, March 8.

A Facebook comment posted by Visaminda Orboda, a resident of Compostela Valley, asked if the government will also provide laptops to teachers in their place.

"Wow! Compostela Valley meron din? Sana magkaroon din kami ng laptop mga public school teachers (Wow! Compostela Valley will have theirs too? We hope we public teachers can have ours too)," she said.

Janeth Delgado, a teacher from Paranaque, congratulated the Mabalacat City teachers. "Sana tularan ang mayor ninyo ng ibang mayors sa buong Pilipinas. Malaking tulong yan sa mga teachers lalo na sa mga batang tinuturuan natin (Hope other mayors in the country will emulate your mayor. What he did is a big help to teachers and children we teach)."

Ericka Pacleb of Rosales, Pangasinan, said: "Ang galing ni mayor (Garbo). Sana sa Rosales din po."

Apparently daring the officials of Olongapo, Mac Monsalud Lazara stressed in his comment "Hoy Olongapo, anon a?!"
