Anti-crime operations net 16 wanted persons

SIXTEEN wanted personalities with standing warrants of arrest were caught during the Joint Enhanced Anti-Criminality and Terrorism Operation Plan where authorities conducted background check and profiling of transient residents in the urban communities of the city and manhunt operations on wanted individuals.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director Alexander Tagum said Thursday, March 8, that the operation, launched on Wednesday morning, March 7, bore fruitful result, as they were able to arrest several individuals.

The arrested personalities were identified as Poloy Diaz for attempted murder, Nancy Moralison for violation of BP 22, Jessie Mabato Polancos for violation of Section 2 in relation to Section 3 of City Ordinance, Charlie Babia Arellano for carnapping, Christian A. Acaso for estafa, Deleserio Dalogdog Balili Jr. for robbery, Joshua Badua Salua for Slight Physical Injuries, and Ernesto Aguino Ladrama for statutory rape through sexual assault (two counts).

Others who were arrested were Vetaliano Diyal Cabca for estafa, Jazer Pedraza Alday for violation of Republic Act 1780 or concealment of deadly weapon, Gina Labor Bariquit for grave oral defamation, Dennis Buisan Uganap for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, Haken Ignacio Tormis for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, Nelly Jane Carmelotes Barcelo for violation of Republic Act 9165 through a search warrant, Armand Medrano Garces for estafa, and Lomie Pisigi Ambang for violation of Presidential Decree 1602.

The security forces also rounded up a total of 1,370 residents, of which 1,261 persons were able to show identification cards while other 109 without ID. They all underwent profiling to check if they have involvement in lawless armed groups.

Authorities also organized a medical check-up and crime prevention education among the residents to raise awareness on how to avoid being a victim of various crimes and be their partners on countering it.

"The community outreach (programs) through medical check-up were conducted by all police stations' nurses and supported by barangay health workers who also provided free medicines and vitamins. While the ID check and medical check-ups are being conducted, the Police Community Relations (PCR) teams of all stations conducted crime prevention lectures on the do's and don'ts in their daily activities to prevent becoming a victim of crime," Tagum said.

The activity was in coordination with other security forces and law enforcement units of DCPO line units with Task Force Davao, Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Philippine Coast Guard-Davao, Regional Maritime Unit, National Intelligence Coordination Agency-Davao, Bureau of Fire Protection-Davao, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Davao, and Regional Intelligence Unit.

The simultaneous anti-criminality operations were conducted in the areas of Police Station 1 (PS1) in North San Juan, Barangay Centro, Agdao; PS2 (Purok 2, Barangay 76-A); PS3 (Salakot, Barangay Talomo); PS4 (Golden Hills, Panacan); PS5 (Mandug); PS6 (Tibungco); PS8 (Barangay Lubogan, Toril); PS9 (Bago Oshiro, Mintal, Tugbok District); and PS10 (Abayon Village, Calinan).
