Police warn public vs modus ‘Talakbu’

THE Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) warned the public against the recent modus operandi known as "Talakbu."

“Talakbu" means Taho-Laho-Bundol.

In a Facebook post of Nocppo on March 8, it explained that the culprit first poses as a "taho" vendor then pretends he or she was hit by a passing vehicle.

The same modus that happened in Manila went viral on social media last month.

The video showed that a man who is carrying a "taho" container deliberately hit the side of a passing vehicle and demanded money to settle the incident, instead of pursuing a case against the owner of the vehicle.

The Negros police advised the public to assess first the situation before disembarking from the vehicle.

Go to the nearest police station or call 911 to immediately ask for assistance, police said.

Bring the victim to a hospital if he or she is injured, the post added.

Authorities urged the community to be vigilant and alert at all times to avoid falling victim to this modus. (GYM)
