This was how the Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) described the individuals who killed the Ong brothers and lawyer Jonnah John Ungab.
Supt. Ryan Devaras, IDMB chief, said the city police force already have sketches of the gunmen of Ungab and seafarer-brothers Nick Benzen, 25, and Neil Brian, 28.
“But we cannot disseminate these yet because we are still conducting operations for their possible arrest. The sketches were based on the accounts of witnesses in the area,” said Devaras.
For the Ong brothers, Devaras said that operatives already have persons of interest and are in constant communication with the victims’ mother.
“Until such time nga madakpan nato didto pa madetermine ang motive. Gun-for-hire gyud to. Naa pa to diri pero mailap lang talaga,” Devaras said.
The police official assured the mother of the victims that investigators are doing their best to solve the crime.
“We assure them that the Cebu City Police Office is working 24 hours to resolve the case,” said Devaras.
In the case of Ungab, Devaras said that they are looking at four to five personalities who connived in killing the lawyer and vice mayor of the southern town of Ronda, Cebu.
“We only have one cartographic sketch of the person who was part of the ‘team’ who killed the lawyer. We won’t disseminate it yet because it might prolong the operation,” Devaras said.
It has been five weeks since the Ong brothers were killed in Barangay Punta Prinsesa. Ungab, on the other hand, was gunned down three weeks ago.
A task force has been formed by the city police force dedicated to investigating Ungab’s killing.
The family of the Ong brothers, on the other hand, will hold a indignation march from the grounds of St. Peter’s Chapel on Imus Road to the Sacred Heart Church on D. Jakosalem St., Cebu City “decrying the slow wheels of justice.” (JOB)
