Espinosa aide killed after resisting arrest in Ormoc

THE alleged right hand of self-confessed druglord Kerwin Espinosa was killed after he allegedly resisted arrest in Ormoc City, Leyte Saturday night, March 10.

MaX Miro, a native of Albuera, Leyte, sustained multiple gunshot wounds, according to a report by the Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas.

The report said joint forces from the regional, city and provincial drug enforcement units as well as the Ormoc City Intelligence Branch swooped down on Miro's residence in Barangay Bantigue at about 10 p.m. to serve an arrest warrant on the suspect.

Miro allegedly resisted, forcing the police to fire at him.

Police said they rushed Miro to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Allegedly recovered from Miro's residence was a caliber .45 pistol, 4 bullets, an empty shell of a .45 bullet and an empty shell of a 5.56 bullet.

Miro, who confessed being part of the so-called Espinosa Group, surrendered some packs of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, and firearms to Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido, who was then the police chief in Albuera town in 2016.

Kerwin Espinosa's father, Mayor Rolando Espinosa of Albuera, was shot dead in his detention cell in Baybay Sub-Provincial Jail in November 2016 by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group agents after he allegedly resisted a search for firearms. (Superbalita Cebu)
