Police raid illegal firearms factory in Carmen, Cebu

POLICE raided an illegal firearms factory on Monday afternoon, March 12, in Barangay Corte, Carmen town, Cebu.

Six unfinished pistols, three pistol barrels, two magazines for .45 pistols, assorted gunmaking devices and a .22 rifle were seized by the joint team of Carmen Police Station and 703rd Maneuver Company of Regional Mobile Force 7 led by Chief Inspector Christian Torres and Senior Inspector Philip John Libres.



The operators of the factory, Ludivino Lumen and his sons Noel and Ranilo, fled after they saw the approaching operatives.

The suspects will be charged for violating Republic Act (RA) 10591, which prohibits illegal possession and manufacturing of firearms.

Later in the evening, a seaman was caught by Libre's team in a checkpoint for allegedly carrying an unlicensed pistol in Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City.

Libre identified the suspect as Christian Chin, who yielded a .45 pistol loaded with six bullets. The suspect will also face complaints for violating RA 10591. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
