Annual search for Gawad Kalasag 2018 awardees kicks off

THE Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council 3 (RDRRMC 3) is now accepting entries for Gawad Kalasag 2018.

“The annual search aims to recognize Local DRRMCs, Barangay DRRM Committees, organizations, institutions, groups, and individuals that continue to render exemplary contribution in promoting and implementing significant and gender sensitive DRRM-Climate Change Adaptation programs and innovations that build community resiliency in the long term,” Office of Civil Defense (OCD) regional director and RDRRMC 3 chairperson Marlou Salazar said.

There are a total of 24 categories this year namely: a) Best Regional DRRM Council; Best Local DRRM Councils/Committees for b) Province, c) Highly-Urbanized City, d) Component/Independent Chartered Component City, e) 1st-3rd Class Municipality, f) 4th-6th Class Municipality, g) Urban Barangay, and h) Rural Barangay; i) Best Civil Society Organization; j) Best Volunteer Organization; k) Best People’s Organization; Best Schools for l) Public Elementary, m) Private Elementary, n) Public High School, o) Private High School, p) Early Learning Center, and q) Higher Education Institution; Best Hospital for r) National Government, s) Local Government Unit, and t) Government Specialty; u) Heroic Act of Individuals/Groups in providing Humanitarian Assistance; and Special Recognition for v) Private Business, w) Private Hospitals, and x) Local Government Emergency Management and Response Teams.

The deadline for submission of entries will be on March 23, 2018. Only one copy (hard copy) of entries is required to be submitted to OCD. Late submission will not be included in the selection process, Salazar added.

Winners will automatically be Central Luzon’s bets in the national competition. (PR)
