New panel of prosecutors to handle Kerwin, Peter Lim drug raps

JUSTICE Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has ordered the creation of a fresh panel of prosecutors that will look into the drug complaint filed against suspected big-time drug traders Peter Lim and Kerwin Espinosa.

The order came after the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Major Crimes Investigation Unit (PNP-CIDG-MCIU) sought for the reversal of the Department of Justice's ruling dated December 20, 2017 dismissing the charges filed against Lim and Espinosa and several other personalities.

Members of the panel of prosecutors are Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Juan Pedro Navera, Assistant State Prosecutor Ana Noreen Devanadera, and Prosecution Attorney Herbert Calvin Abugan.

Aguirre also designated as acting prosecutor only for this specific complaint Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Anthony Fadullon.

The said panel is expected to resolve the motion filed by the PNP-CIDG-MCIU.

The prosecutors who earlier ruled that the complaint against the said respondents lacked evidence were Assistant State Prosecutors Michael John Humarang and Aristotle Reyes.

The acting prosecutor general who approved the findings was Acting Prosecutor George Catalan. (SunStar Philippines)
