Silay City to get 144.4 hectares lot donation

A FAMILY of Homero-Tanpinco has signified to donate 144.4 hectares of land to the City Government of Silay.

Mayor Mark Golez said Tuesday he signed a resolution authorizing him to accept the deed of donation for and on behalf of the City Government of Silay from the HHT Farms. It was approved by the City Council three weeks ago.

The lot is located at Barangay Kapitan Ramon.

Golez said the city is planning to make the land as an eco-tourism park and quarry. They are also eyeing to make it as a venue for the residents’ livelihood.

He is positive that the lot donation will benefit the people of Silay.

“It is a big blessing to the people of Silay,” he added.

Meanwhile, Golez said the Jison family is also planning to donate a 2.8-hectare lot near the Bacolod-Silay airport to be utilized as an agricultural school of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC).

He said part of the donation will be usufruct with the CHMSC for their laboratories and area for planting.

Moreover, Golez said they are negotiating with the Gaston family, who signified to donate a 3.5-hectare lot in Hacienda Puyas, Barangay Bagtic for the possible site of the city’s New Government Center.

Golez said the current city hall, which was built in 1935, will house other government agencies or be converted into a museum.

He is hoping they can hold a groundbreaking this year, adding “it is about time to build a new government center.”
