KRISPY Kreme (KK), a popular doughnut chain, will launch sometime in April an exclusive Davao product – the Malagos Chocolate doughnut.

KK local relations officer- Mindanao Princess Payag said in an interview yesterday during its Araw Ng Dabaw event at SM City Davao that this is part of the company’s direction to launch regionalized doughnut flavors exclusive to a particular area they are operating.

“We will be featuring the Malagos Chocolates, so their chocolate will be our source of our raw materials for this particular featured product which will be offered only for Davao,” she said.

Malagos Chocolate, she said, was chosen by the company because of its famous “tree to bar” concept.

The chocolate brand is an award-winning single-origin chocolate maker based in the city.

“The product will be piloted in Davao but we don’t know yet if we will offer it nationwide. If we see, after this will be launched, that there is a potential to use it (Malagos Chocolate) for all chocolate-based products offered here, we will go into that direction,” Payag added.

Krispy Kreme has also launched in 2016 a strawberry doughnut offered exclusively in Baguio City.

“Krispy Kreme is really into making regionalized doughnuts. After Davao, we also plan to launch featured products in Cebu and Bacolod, among others,” she said.

Meanwhile, a total of 10 indigenous kids from different tribes in Davao namely Tausug, Maranao, Kagan and Badjao experienced a treat form the doughnut chain through a factory tour and “create your own doughnut” activity.

“This event is about Araw Ng Dabaw but since we had a system wide campaign dubbed as #Everyisanoriginal, we celebrate person’s individuality, showcasing different tribes and cultures of Davao, so we invited lumad kids with the cooperation of Hope Organization,” she said.

Krispy Kreme also launched its Araw Ng Dabaw promo offering three chocolate glazed and thee original glazed doughnuts at P149. The promos period is only within March 15 to 18.
