MBFEA fun run set

WITH the thrust of promoting their Cavendish banana products and helping a certain school in Davao del Norte, the Mindanao Banana Farmers and Exporters Association (MBFEA) will hold its first MBFEA Fun Run 2018 that will kick off on April 8 at the Panabo Multi-Purpose Gym in Panabo City.

This was bared by Richard Mark delos Reyes, MBFEA president, along with executive assistant Gladys Mebrano-Garcia, in a press conference held at the R.O.X. (Recreational Outdoor eXchange) at Abreeza Ayala Malls.

The president of MBFEA, an association of independent farmers and exporters of Cavendish bananas, said that the portion of the proceeds will benefit the Indigenous People (IP) pupils of Basak Elementary School in Talaingod, Davao del Norte.

Garcia, for her part, said they will distribute school supplies for the beneficiaries of this event.

Garcia, however, said that the MBFEA Fun Run aims to raise awareness on the importance and contributions of Cavendish Banana Industry to the region while opening awareness to the locals on the health benefits of consuming that certain banana classification.

"We would also want to let everyone know that Cavendish banana is the best for exports as it has the longest shelf life among other classes," he said.

over 600 runners are expected to join the race which is categorized into male and female 3K and 6K categories.

The registration fees are P350 (3K) and P380 (6K) inclusive of singlet, race bib, refreshments and snacks.

The top three male and female runners in both categories will receive P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000.

The annual event is supported by Joy Wing Mau Group, Davao International Container Terminal Inc, Davao Packaging Corporation, Davao Intergrated Port and Stevedoring Services Corporation, Davao Fibreboard Packaging Plant Inc., Steniel Mindanao Packaging Corporation, Magsaysay Shipping Lines, Province of Davao del Norte, Tagum City, LGU of Sto. Tomas, Nature Spring, Rox Ayala Abreeza, Yang Ming Shipping Philippines Inc. and Envireau Pacific Inc.
