All cleared: No drug users among 443 cops tested in November

AT least 443 police officers were found negative of illegal drug use based on the mandatory drug test conducted by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) last year.

CPADAO chairperson Carmen Remedios “Ivy” Durano-Meca said that results of the mandatory test will reinforce the police’s image that they remain incorruptible in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Meca said that the police officers who went through mandatory drug testing were those assigned in the towns of Tuburan, Pinamungajan, Aloguinsan, Balamban, Minglanilla, Ronda, and Alcantara; and the cities of Toledo, Naga, Carcar, and Talisay.

Personnel assigned at the Cebu Provincial Police Office also underwent mandatory drug tests from Nov. 6 to 12 last year.

Results of the drug tests by CPADAO will help clear the police in Cebu from speculations that some of them are involved in narcotics, Durano-Meca said.

She hopes that the other police officers assigned in Cebu Province will maintain their fight against illegal drugs and that no one will be found positive in the next round of drug tests.
