SUMMIT escaped Creamy Delight, 67-66, highlighting with a cliffhanger the elimination round of Class B with a clean record of 9-0 in the ongoing Fil-Sino Asia Brewery basketball tournament in Bacolod City.
A 40-24 lead at halftime behind Marc Lo's 14 points and Efraim Valencia's 10 gave Summit a comfortable lead. But Creamy Delight crawled back in the second half and ended the third quarter, 53-44 as Edmundo Cabalfin shot six points.
Cabalfin continued his scoring prowess in the final period with 10 points and Jessie Moreno added five points. Creamy Delight's effort fell short as Summit ran down the clock on the last play.
Lo paced Summit with 22 points as Valencia added 14 markers while Mark Yee and Jappy Cuaycong delivered eight points apiece.
Cabalfin, on the other hand, led Creamy Delight with 16 points as Moreno hit 15 points.
Despite the loss, Creamy Delight caught the last bus to the quarterfinals.
Nestea also advanced to the quarterfinals with a slim 70-69 edge over Vitamilk.
Rey Pandoro bannered Nestea with 16 points as Harry Siendo added 10 points while Jasper Geolingo fired seven points.
Richard Co led Vitamilk's with 16 points as Kendrick Deloria finished with 15 points, Tubby Villanueva shot 12, and Oliver Manaloto shared 10 points. (HGD)
