Moises Padilla gets new police chief

A NEW police chief was assigned at Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station, Negros Occidental effective March 14.

This came 22 days after the town's top cop was replaced.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., provincial director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said Thursday that Senior Inspector Renante Salgado was replaced by Chief Inspector Joshua Villasis due to health problems.

Villasis came from the Provincial Safety Management Unit at the Nocppo headquarters.

Villasis is the fourth police chief of the town under the stint of Castil, who assumed as the provincial police's top cop since April 2017.

Before Salgado's assignment in the town, Senior Inspector Alfredo De Leon from Pulupandan Municipal Police Station assumed the post of Senior Inspector Alan Reloj, who was relieved from his post last January 15.

Reloj was involved in a controversy with Vice Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo and husband Felix Yulo III after his team led the arrest against the latter in a police checkpoint at Crossing Magallon in December last year.

Three weeks into detention, the couple were released upon the orders of the Provincial Prosecutor's Office due to insufficient evidence on the illegal possession of explosives and firearms charges.

Reloj, who served the town for almost a year, was transferred to Pulupandan.
