TWO suspected drug personalities, including a village official, were caught on Sunday dawn, March 19, in a series of drug busts in Danao City.
Superintendent Jaime Quiocho Jr., the city police chief, said Sandayong Sur Barangay Councilor Archie Gomez Cañas, 36, was arrested at 3:20 a.m.
Cañas, who was caught by the operatives led by Inspector Jan Ace Elcid Layug, is a newly identified drug personality operating in the city.
Quiocho said the anti-illegal drugs campaign under Oplan Limpyo Danao 2 seized 22.2 grams of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu.
The contraband is worth P265,500, a Dangerous Drugs Board value.
At 4:54 a.m., in Sitio Caputatan, Barangay Guinacot, Layug's team captured Rodel Cape Almagro, who yielded 0.30 gram of shabu worth P4,130.
More than P3,000 in cash believed to be the suspects' proceeds and the marked bills used in the drug busts were also confiscated.
Suspects will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Selling shabu is a non-bailable offense. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
