Ordination of Kabankalan bishop set

MONSIGNOR Louie Galbines will be ordained as bishop of the Diocese of Kabankalan in Negros Occidental in May.

Galbines' Solemn Episcopal Ordination will be on May 28 at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City, while the Solemn Canonical Installation at the Diocese of Kabankalan will be held the next day.

Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon said he knows Galbines will do well because he has extraordinary qualities of pastoral leadership, not to mention his humility and deep spirituality.

"I already gave him my congratulations and expressed our great joy for him and for our diocese," said.

Last week, Pope Francis has appointed Galbines as the next bishop of the Diocese of Kabankalan.

Galbines succeeded Buzon, who was transferred to the Bacolod Diocese in 2016.

Galbines, who was born in Sagay City on November 18, 1966, completed his philosophical and theological studies at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.

He was ordained a priest in April 1994.

In 2012, he became rector of the Sacred Heart Seminary in Bacolod City, and vicar general of the Diocese of Bacolod in 2013.
