2 wounded cops to get P30,000 financial aid

THE City Government of Sipalay in Negros Occidental will give financial assistance amounting to P30,000 to the two wounded policemen of Sipalay City Police Station who engaged in a shootout with the city's most wanted person.

Councilor Dionilo Bogtae told SunStar Bacolod on Tuesday, March 20, that Police Officers 2 Armando Arsenal and Joy Pabera will receive a financial aid of P20,000 and P10,000, respectively.

On March 15, the city police force and the Regional Mobile Force Company-Western Visayas served an arrest warrant for murder against Emerson Antepaso Jr. in Barangay Manlocahoc when the suspect fired at the police officers.

Pabera was hit in his chest and hand while Arsenal sustained a minor injury on his head. The suspect was killed during the shootout.

Police recovered from the scene 13 unfired cartridges and a fired cartridge of 12 gauge shotgun, a jungle knife, and an improvised shotgun.

Bogtae said the City Council also passed a resolution commending the police officers in their call of duty.

He also said that the city police forces were also commended by city police chief, Chief Inspector Nazer Canja for their bravery, during the flag raising ceremony last Monday.

Chief Superintendent Cesar Binag, director of Police Regional Office-Western Visayas and Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., provincial director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), visited Pabera at a hospital in Bacolod City and awarded him with a Philippine National Police (PNP) Wounded Personnel Medal.

The same medal was also received by Arsenal, who was discharged from a hospital after sustaining a minor injury. (GYM)
