Drug suspect injured in police shootout

A DRUG suspect was injured when he resisted arrest during a drug bust at Barangay Zone 12 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, March 20.

The suspect was identified as Christian Paul Magbanua, 29, of Doña Enrica Drive, Barangay Zone 2.

Police records showed that Magbanua and his unidentified companion transact with a police agent at 12:20 a.m.

They noticed the presence of police operatives in the area, prompting the suspect’s companion to fire at the police agent. The police agent was not hit.

Magbanua and his companion tried to escape by riding a motorcycle.

They continued to fire at the police officers who are close to them.

Magbanua was hit in the leg while his companion managed to evade arrest.

Police recovered from Magbanua, 20 sachets of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), P500 marked money, matchbox, and a motorcycle.

He will be subjected to a drug test.

7 persons nabbed

A top drug personality and six others were collared in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Negros Occidental.

In Victorias City, target subject, John Rey Panisa, 38, a 10th drug personality; and Dennis Jabague, 23, both residents of Barangay 7, were arrested last Monday after police seized five sachets of suspected shabu, P400 marked money, cellular phone, and P260 in cash.

In Manapla town, Azel Jalando-on, 34, of Barangay II-A, was arrested on the same day after he yielded five sachets of suspected shabu, and P500 marked money.

Marlon Urbiana, 42, a newly-identified drug personality and a street-level target drug suspect was also arrested on the same day in Purok Masagana, Barangay 30, Bacolod City. The police confiscated 11 sachets of suspected shabu, weighing 0.098 grams amounting to P4,500.

On March 18, Alvin Tanoy, 20, was arrested in a drug raid on Gatuslao Street in Barangay 11, Bacolod City that resulted to a confiscation of two sachets of suspected shabu, the P200 marked money, drug paraphernalia, coin purse, and P150 in cash.

Still in Bacolod City, drug surrenderer Eliseo Lacson, 20, of Charito Heights Subdivision, Barangay Granada, was arrested last week that resulted to a recovery of two sachets of suspected marijuana, and the P100 marked money.

Also arrested in Barangay 16 last Thursday was Charlito Sayon, 22, of Purok Cagaycay, Barangay 2 after he was caught by Barangay Captain Nelson Ligaya Jr. in possession of a sachet of suspected shabu worth P300, an improvised tooter, three lighters, a cellular phone, and P6,246 in cash.
